I hate how you make me feel I stay so mixed up all the time I hate how you leave me hangin’ ‘cause you can never make up your mind No matter how I play this I’m still all wrong for you And I’ve finally got it through my head I can’t love you anymore Than I already do I hate how you make want you I wish I could see you but you’re not here I hate how you’re so damned stubborn Given excused about all your fears And no matter what I say There’s no reason to continue I finally got it through my head I can’t love you anymore Than I already do Bridge: I love how you held me close Your eyes and that sneaky smile You’re nothing short of wonderful A little troubled by still worthwhile How this got so twisted I haven’t got a clue I’ve finally figured out that I can’t love you anymore Than I already do I hate how you make me feel I stay so mixed up all the time I hate how you leave me hangin’ ‘cause you can never make up your mind No matter how I play this I’m still all wrong for you And I’ve finally got it through my head I can’t love you anymore Than I already do

It’s still early August Ninety-two in the shade But I’m shivering Chewing over decisions I’ve made Did I ask too much? Have I lost your trust? So Impatient to the point That I pushed you Away Forgive me if I don’t know what to say Never before have I felt the need To be with someone so strongly that I’d beg and plead I search for minutes of every moment For a chance to be in your presence It’s so hard to be Close at a distance The room is dark I’m staring at the ceiling I wish we could talk So I’d know what you’re feeling If I could take it back I damn sure would You’re uncomfortable That was never my intention Forgive me If I just have to mention Never before have I felt the need to be with someone so strongly that I’d beg and plead I search for minutes of every moment For a chance to be in your presence It’s so hard to be Close at a distance Maybe I spoke too soon But I thought you knew Everyone could see me falling but you Never before have I felt the need To be with someone so strongly that I’d beg and plead I search for minutes of every moment For a chance to be in your presence It’s so hard to be Close at a distance It’s so hard to be Close at a distance

I don't know what's right but there's nothing left here You never wanted me You made that perfectly clear Will I be able To ever trust myself again How can I move on When I'm not sure where I've been Never saw it coming I admit I can be naive I get the picture now Yea I'm forced to believe I was plainly delusional Imagined all I felt and heard None of it was real Not a smile a touch or word So please help me understand 'Cause I'm really trying to see if this was a one-sided thing you sure could have fooled me Have I wasted all this time I really need to know Was there ever anything there 'Cause everything here tells me so We shouldn't be together Please just go that's what you say I couldn't if I wanted to 'Cause your eyes tell me to stay And if you really mean it Then why do you look so sad Surely I couldn't be far off base that bad So please help me understand 'Cause I'm really trying to see if this was a one-sided thing you sure could have fooled me Have I wasted all this time I really need to know Was there ever anything there 'Cause everything here tells me so We shouldn't be together Please just go that's what you say I couldn't if I wanted to 'Cause your eyes tell me to stay

Tonight was the last night The end of ten long years You took the things you could And I'll keep the rest right here Until you find a place to stay Oh you just walked away Casting us aside Like some loose change I hope what you're getting Is worth all you're giving up Guess all I gave you Could never be enough It may seem of no consequence But when you look back some day The little things add up Like some loose change Like some loose change You pull from your pocket Just one quick glance And not a second thought more As you throw it in a drawer And insignificant thing Like some loose change Oh I saved all my love for you And with interest that love just grew And that means so much more than you think and you can take it to the bank Like some loose change you can take it to the bank like some loose change

Glance over to where you’d be There’s just an empty passenger seat And my mind wonders off I’m alone with my thoughts And I’d give anything To share them with you Like driving down 26 last night Hearing my favorite John Prine line About the folks I met down at Maggie’s place Records on the wall Elvis propped up on a case Funny little things that people say and do I’d give anything To share them with you Over the hill I can see the sunset Just past Knoxville and heading west Deep reds and orange up ahead Make quite a view And I’d give anything To share it with you Like painted on a barn chapter 1 verse 2 God our father said grace be with you Stopping on the roadside to stretch my legs Buying boiled peanuts for 50 cents Little things you miss When you’re just passing through And I’d give anything To share them with you Little things you miss When you’re just passing through And I’d give anything To share them with you To share them with you To share them with you To share them with you

He sent a give wrapped box With a card and sunglasses Said I know it’s against the rules But hey if we break one Might as well break two Let’s get out of this place find somewhere out-of-the-way Maybe to the ocean Or just to the docks of Gray And when the day turns to night Take those shades off honey And let me hold you tight It doesn’t matter the time can fly on by We’ll have our feet on the ground And the stars in our eyes He sent a dozen red roses with a small note attached Said blow off the rest of the day Jump in the car with me And we’ll hit the highway Let’s Get out of this place Go by our middle names Be back by morning No one will ever know we came And when the day turns to night Take those shades off honey And let me hold you tight It doesn’t matter the time can fly on by We’ll have our feet on the ground And the stars in our eyes Let’s Get out of this place Go by our middle names Be back by morning No one will ever know we came And when the day turns to night Take those shades off honey And let me hold you tight It doesn’t matter the time can fly on by We’ll have our feet on the ground And the stars in our eyes

Mattie got married when she was just a girl Not so much for love But to get away from home To a man who wasn’t handsome But he was good and he was strong Worked in the fields ‘til the daylight was gone Sam was charming owned land for miles around Passing by he’d see her On his way to town he had to have the lady So one day he stopped in And the baby born later Looked exactly like him Matte No One needs to know How you loved the man You’d meet down in hollow You’ll never have to explain Why the boy who was your favorite Had those pretty blue eyes And the wrong last name 20 years later on a cold December night Young men were raising hell Drunk on moonshine A bet was made One held a rooster and one a gun No one made a sound As he fell to the ground Sam begged her to tell It had to be and accident No one would kill his brother with cold blood intent Our boy’s gone but mine you can save By telling the secret You carrying to your grave Mattie there’s no laughter in your house There’s no celebrating When Christmas comes around Sure it was hard to explain Why the boy who was your favorite Had those pretty blue eyes

about

Album Notes
Songwriters can be stereotyped as being gifted lyricists without the ability to stretch a note. Reagan Boggs is an accomplished songwriter with a voice that can captivate a room. Like a Julie Miller, Lucinda Williams, or Mindy Smith, she delivers well crafted compositions with natural soul and passion.

Reagan's first solo release in nearly ten years, Never Looking Behind could be classified Country, AAA, Alt Country, or Americana; it's up to the listener and the critic's discretion. For Reagan, the sound is finally her. “The songs that I write are country, but there's always a touch of rock, blues or a little bluegrass in there somewhere. I am now very comfortable in my own skin, and I've taken the mixed-up hodgepodge of blues country and rock and have found a home in Americana. The new record is more “me” than anything I've ever done. Not me trying to be a rock singer or a blues singer. It's very natural and real. I am very excited about it. Eric [Fritsch - Producer] has done an outstanding job . . . we talked about how I wanted this to sound and he has just flat out nailed it!

The album features 11 tracks, including 8 Boggs originals. It begins with the upbeat driving song, Share Them With You. “This song has to be one of my favorites, it's about being on the road and taking in all the little things you see along the way, and in the meantime, wanting to share all those things with someone who can't be there.” The album rounds out with a cover of that classic Son Volt tune "Tear Stained Eye," and a duet with Scott Miller (V-Roys, the Commonwealth), performing “Jackson,” the June Carter and Johnny Cash hit from the late 60s. It closes with a soft love song written by her friend Scotty Melton.
